The Men’s Shed shed is under new ownership. Yes, the shed workshop, which is a commercial space rented by the Helensburgh Men’s Shed (the Shed gets no financial support and so has to raise the necessary funds itself) is about to change ownership with the recent sale of the property. It is not 100% clear yet what this may mean for the Shed but in order to try and prepare for any eventuality, we at the Shed are looking to tidy things up, finish off those odd jobs that have been tucked away on the back shelf and actually chucking out stuff – a challenging task… one man’s junk is another one’s ‘can’t live without’!
We are also building up our inventory of hand-made items which make for great gifts – how about a hand-made pen or chopping board for Father’s Day? These are always available in the Shed shop – open on Mondays and Tuesdays – but our big push is to have an extensive array of items ready for our stall at the Helensburgh Spring Fair in October. The local Lions Club do a great job in organising this and we always enjoy being part of the day and for us this year, its timing is particularly good.
So do come along – to the Shed itself, or talk to us at the Fair in October. We are always happy to have a chat, provide advice or take on commissions. And if you are a bloke over 18, think about getting involved. With Spring just around the corner (fingers crossed) it is the ideal time to think about starting something new.
Visit Helensburgh Men’s Shed at 199A Parkes Street any Monday or Tuesday, 9am to 3pm to find out more.
