Illawarra Flame June Article - (Warning: Trump-Free Zone)

Well, it’s soggy. It’s wet. And it’s raining, mate - again. Still, the poor folks up north are copping it worse. Watching their houses disappear under brown muck as a cow floats past. This is a tough country in which we live. And ya can’t even read the news anymore - too depressing. And stop doom-scrolling - that does your head in. And yet…

Your writer recently spent a year overseas—the UK, Europe, North Africa, Iceland, and beyond. And you know what? So many people want to come here, to holiday or to live. So many people have a relative living here. They want what we have - sunshine, freedom, safety. Yes, we have our issues here as well. But is this still the lucky country, my friends? Yes, it is! Every day you wake up in Australia can be a great day.

And part of making it a great day is volunteering. Without our volunteers, we would be lost. We see them everywhere, don’t we? There are 5 million Aussies engaged in volunteering; that is awesome. And at your Men's Shed in the Forest, the men and women may not be piloting a rubber-duckie or tarping a roof, but we still get in there and help. How? We’d love you to come down the Darkes Forest Road and find out.

Your Helensburgh Men's Shed, serving the 2508 Community since 2016. We are open to everyone over 18 years of age.
