Presentation:
1. Purpose and Scope
This procedure outlines the mandatory safety requirements and operational steps for the SawStop Table Saw. This applies to all members and visitors to ensure the prevention of injury and the protection of the machine's braking system.
2. Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
The following PPE must be worn at all times during operation:

Eye Protection: Safety glasses.

Hearing Protection: ear muffs or earplugs.
-
Respiratory Protection: A dust mask must be worn if the cutting operation is generating significant dust.

Footwear: Closed-toe, non-slip shoes.
3. Pre-Operational Safety Check
[DANGER] Do not attempt to operate the machine if any of the following checks fail.

Workpiece Inspection: Check all timber for nails or metal fasteners. [DANGER] All nails must be removed before processing . Check moisture content; if moisture exceeds 15%, consult the manual before using bypass mode .

Work Area Clearance: Ensure the area around the saw is clear of debris and unnecessary objects for 1m around the saw.

Machine Setup:

Guards: Ensure the safety guard, splitter, and riving knife (or kick pawls) are correctly in place .

Fence: Check the position of the rip fence and ensure it is locked firmly in place.

Dust Extraction: Verify that the extractor is switched on and functioning .

Blade Height: Adjust the blade height so it is no more than 6mm above the work piece.

4. Operational Procedure
-
Safety Cycle: Switch the saw ON. [WARNING] You must wait for the machine to run through its safety cycle; do not proceed until the GREEN light is solidly on.

Starting the Motor: Once the green light is confirmed, pull the paddle out to start the motor.

Cutting Technique: Use a push stick or a push sled for all cuts to ensure fingers are kept at least 100 mm away from the blade.

Force Regulation: [CAUTION] Do not force the work piece; allow the blade to perform the cutting.

Handling Work pieces: When the cut is complete, support the work piece only. [DANGER] Do not pull or push the piece through the saw.
5. Post-Operational & Shutdown Procedure

Stopping the Blade: Push the paddle in to stop the motor.

Complete Stop: [DANGER] Wait for the blade to come to a complete stop before attempting to pick up or move any pieces.

Blade Retraction: Turn the saw off and lower the blade .

Housekeeping: Clean the saw and the work area thoroughly upon completion.
6. Training & Competency Requirements
Only personnel who have been trained in the operation of this machine and assessed as competent are permitted to operate the SawStop Table Saw.
7. Emergency Protocol

Emergency Stop: In the event of an error, press the emergency stop or disconnect power immediately.

Injury: In the event of an injury, stop work immediately and notify the Duty Manager.

Reporting: All incidents or near-misses must be reported to the Duty Manager.
