December 2508 Men’s Shed Article
This year has been very rewarding in so many ways for the Men’s Shedders.
Great friendships grown, loneliness banished, and lives opened. They have shared their load of grief, loss or illness. There has been laughter, fun, and meaningful work. And so many Dad jokes! We have made our bodies tip top by removing any ‘Spanner in the Works’, gained from visiting Health Care professionals, and puffed away at our exercise classes on Monday afternoons.
It has been pleasing to see our new Metalwork facility develop. The ability to weld, fabricate or repair machinery has increased the interests and skills our members can practise, as well as the range of products and services the Shed can offer the community.
Your Men’s Shed has completed commissions and projects for the 2508 community, what an honour! We thank Alcara Cafe, Stanwell Park Arts Theatre, Lynda Babister, Lilli Pang, Julie York, Raya Thai, Fay Prideaux, Helensburgh RSL and the Arthur McGuire Estate for their support, plus all the people who had their little jobs done by Shed members. Another privilege has been joining in this year’s ANZAC and Remembrance Day’s, plus creating and presenting ANZAC Perpetual Awards to children at our four local schools.
We thank our Sponsors: Hope Church 2508, Helensburgh and Stanwell Park Anglican, newsXpress, the Tops Conference Centre, Razamataz Mobile Car Wash, Gary Laker, and Bunnings Bellambi and Kirrawee for Sausage Sizzles.
Thank you all for your continuing and generous support, helping us improve men’s health and well-being, and giving back to our Community.
As we approach Christmas, just think; a humble carpenter called Jesus banded together a shed of blokes without much in common, got them working shoulder to shoulder, and turned the world upside down….and we can still trust Him, and His promise of eternal life. He’s one trusted Tradie!
Our Christmas Party and last day of operation is the 17th of December.
The Shed will start afresh on January 14 2019, at
the Anglican Church Hall, Stanwell Avenue Stanwell Park, 9am to 3pm.
