HMS 2508 Magazine May Article

It's an exciting time at your Helensburgh Men's Shed. We have completed our move from Stanwell Park, set up our new wood and metal working areas, including a paint booth and dedicated timber and project storage areas, and created a welcoming display and meeting room, including a library and shop.

What’s even more encouraging, our membership is growing. Five new men have joined us so far this year, to stand shoulder to shoulder as we travel through life’s good times and life’s challenges.

These new blokes have been having a great time with us in setting up the Shed, and in projects like restoring the Stanwell Park Surf Life Savers flag pole, and making chables, microbat boxes and beautiful circular cheese boards. Plus we have some very interesting commissions in the pipeline that will enable us to truly Serve the 2508 Community.

We are very grateful to all our Sponsors that have given the Men’s Shed a surer footing. From the Helensburgh and Stanwell Park Anglican Church, Hope Church 2508 and The Tops Conference Centre, local businesses newsXpress, Helensburgh Tyres, Peabody’s Metropolitan Mine, Helensburgh Car Services, Raine and Horne Real Estate, Heathcote Handyman Timber, Razamataz Car Wash and HMS member and RFS volunteer Gary Laker; all have been very generous to us. Please support them whenever you can, and we look forward to partnering with more 2508 businesses this year. And every donation or Sponsorship over $2 is tax deductible!

One of the great benefits of sponsoring the Men’s Shed is that every cent goes towards improving our men’s health by the blokes enjoying meaningful work, speaking with visiting health professionals and attending various men’s health event’s. The ability to call a place ‘home’, a place where all are accepted and encouraged, where a man can be a man and where there are no social barriers is a wonderful blessing to a man, and his family.
